Omar is a leading designer and manufacturer of modular homes to the holiday park and retirement sectors, with Omar’s end markets driven by positive long term demographic trends and a lack of age-appropriate housing. Through the acquisitions of Regal and UK Sundecks, the Group also supplies premium holiday homes and decking, positioning the group as a turnkey solutions provider to its customers. Omar is differentiated through its range, quality of product and reputation for excellent pre-and post-sales service among its customers. With four main production sites, Omar supplies a broad customer base across the UK.
Investment thesis
Omar was an owner manager transition deal with the majority owner and CEO, Dean Westmoreland, looking to transition to Chairman and crystallise some of the value created under his ownership. Following a period of strong growth, at the time of acquisition Omar’s manufacturing facilities were near capacity. Investment was required to bring a step-change in production with the core operational focus post deal to add capacity with a new, larger second facility as well as implementing efficiency improvements at the primary site. A new management team (CEO and FD) were brought in as planned with further investment in the team also made to help accelerate the development of the business. To complement Omar’s core manufacturing business, the plan additionally involved accelerating Omar’s consultancy and service offerings as well as further developing Omar’s systems and processes. Acquisitions to expand production and service capabilities was also a feature of the plan.
