Southgate is a value-added solutions provider focusing on equipment, consumables and servicing for global operational logistics and fulfilment customers. From its origins as a regional UK packaging supplier in the 1960s, the business has evolved through strong organic growth and several strategic acquisitions to become a value-added provider of equipment and related products and services to a number of sizeable global customers.
Investment thesis
The thesis was focused on transitioning the business from family ownership, refining the market proposition, improving operations, and enabling the business to better service larger corporate customers. The plan also included the development of new sales channels including an equipment servicing offering, broadening target geographical markets and also growing the equipment design and sales side of the business. The plan was to be facilitated by upgrading the business’ systems, processes, and international product sourcing capabilities to deliver a platform for future growth.
