12 Feb 2014 Millbrook Appoint New CEO
With immediate effect, Millbrook, one of Europe’s leading test and engineering solution providers for the automotive, energy and defence markets, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Alex Burns as its Chief Executive Officer.
Burns, a mechanical engineer who holds an MBA from Cranfield University, spent 11 years at the Williams F1 Team as COO and then CEO for the last 3 years. During his tenure Burns established Williams Advanced Engineering, which brought F1-inspired low carbon technology to the commercial and passenger vehicle markets, leading the design and manufacture of five hybrid supercar prototypes. Burns began his career at Westland Helicopters and spent 12 years prior to Williams in various senior roles at Meggitt PLC.
Commenting on this new appointment, Chairman of Millbrook, John Notman-Watt, said: “Alex’s appointment is a significant step forward in creating a new Millbrook for the future, following Rutland Partner’s purchase of Millbrook from General Motors at the end of last year. Alex brings with him 30 years of experience in high performance engineering in the UK, together with the energy and enthusiasm to take Millbrook forward.”
Burns added: I am delighted to be joining Millbrook at such an interesting time. The recent change of ownership represents a great opportunity to develop Millbrook as a world class technology and test centre. I look forward to working with the whole team at Millbrook and providing industry leading services and capabilities to our customers.”
